Being a fashion blogger, sometimes brands reach out and ask if they can send you stuff. Which is pretty awesome! I love stuff.
Norvell asked if they could send me their Venetian Self Tanning Mousse several weeks ago and I was totally down – I get pale over the winter. Ever since I turned 30, I’ve been trying to avoid baking in the sun – but I still want some nice color. So I’ve turned to sunless tanners to give me that California girl look.
I’ve tried several brands and some are better than others. I like the thinner, liquid type better than the lotions, so the tanning mousse seemed like an intriguing option.
So far I’m really happy with it! I’ve been using the Norvell mousse for a few weeks now and the results are quite nice. The bottle comes with a pretty good amount of product – I still have a ton left. The product comes out in a soft airy foam. They include a soft mit with a waterproof inside to apply the product – this helps you get a smooth finish, and prevents your palms from getting all dark and weird looking.
There are a few things I really love about this mousse – first of all, it has a very light smell. The tanning lotion I was using before has a very strong fake tanner smell and it was a bit much. It also fades in a really natural way – there are no dark patches that look really obvious. That was a problem I had with my previous tanner – thicker areas of skin like my knees and ankles would have dark, almost dry looking patches when the rest had faded. Ew!
Norvell advertises this as having no orange tones and I can agree – it’s a very natural tan. It’s also cruelty and paraben free!
One thing to note is that the Norvell Venetian mousse is not a super dark tan in one coat. It does give a nice sunkissed look, but it’s not a super dark Cali tan. If you just want a little color, this is a great option. I typically apply it a few days in a row after my shower so I can get a little darker.
Overall this is one of my favorite tanning products. In terms of ease of use, natural appearance, and scent, it’s top notch. I think I’m going to buy their Ultra Vivid 1 Hour Rapid Tanning mousse, which is supposed to be a darker tan option.
If you’re looking for a natural looking, sunkissed tan, especially if you’re new to self tanning – it’s pretty much foolproof!
I’d love to know if you decided to give it a try – let me know in comments if you have any other questions about it!
